Why can't I see the same vet each time I visit?
One of the issues often thrown up by clients when attending a multi-handed practice like the Swanbourne Veterinary Centre is that they never see the same vet twice.
In fact we are well aware of this problem and we make a priority of insisting that the rosters always remain the same week in and week out. Of course holidays, illness and so on make this an impossibility 100% of the time but we do try.
I would like to put another spin on the multi-handed practice however and one that you may not have considered.
The veterinarians at Swanbourne meet regularly at least once a month over dinner to discuss cases and protocols. At these sessions difficult and intractable case studies are discussed. Added to this we have a visiting radiological specialist from Murdoch University visit the practice on a monthly basis to review xrays, as well as visiting specialists in the fields of dermatology, ultrasonography, neurology and so on as the need arises.
It could therefore be just as easily argued that when you visit the Swanbourne Veterinary Centre you in fact are seen by the combined resources of seven resident vets plus several other registered specialists in selected fields if the need should arise.
So……….when you next come and your favourite vet is away for some reason maybe you should think of it as a second opinion, given all the case history notes and previous laboratory and diagnostic results are well documented on the state-of-the-art computer record system.
